News from Brougham Hall

30 years of Brougham Hall

We are very excited to be able to share with you a celebration of Brougham Hall over the last 30 years, in the form of the "Brougham Hall News".  The author and publisher, Alistair Aynscough, came to us on 27th August 1986, as part of a Community Programme training scheme and has been with us ever since.  It was quickly apparent that Alistair had phenomenal journalistic skills and an outstanding memory.  On 1st December 1986, starting with little more than an Amstrad and a Box Brownie Alistair launched Hall News which has now reached issue number 804 (August 2016).  This “magnum opus” is an invaluable record of the revival of Brougham Hall and virtually every event and development, or events relating to it.  Please click part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4if you would like to see the 30 year review, four-part history; part 1 provides an explanation as to how to use the reviews.   Alistair produces an issue every month and, if you would like to receive future copies, by e-mail, please contact us at

Our restoration and fundraising endeavours continue all year round but, our main fundraising focus for 2016 is the total restoration of the Chancellor's Den, for which we received planning consent on 4th November 2010. see "restoration project".

If you would like to help us with any of our endeavours, we accept donations through PayPal, using a debit or credit card; you don't even need a PayPal account to use this facility. Please view our 'Donate' page for further details.

Any donation, however great or small, will be acknowledged immediately, and is deeply appreciated helping us continue our restoration and with general upkeep.
