Psychotherapy

"To become who we are and to become what we are capable of becoming is the only end in life ". R L Stevenson

What is psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a professional way of working with human distress and unhappiness. It is in
essence a 'talking therapy' within a relationship of trust between client and therapist.

Providing an opportunity for you to work with a professional psychotherapist to review your life, it
will help you to make sense of how your mind works and the link between your thoughts emotions
and actions. A sound understanding of yourself will enable you to develop the resources to live a
more satisfying and resourceful life. The therapeutic experience can lead toward a greater tolerance
of life's experiences and an increase of creativity and service.

Many people come to therapy to find their true nature and to release themselves from internal blocks
in order to reach their full potential others come because of deep seated problems or relationship
difficulties.

Depending on what you want from your therapy you might want to work for a few months with your
chosen therapist or may want to work longer term to make deeper changes in yourself and in your
life. Longer-term therapy usually includes an in-depth exploration of our childhood and our roots and
history in order to fully understand how we became to be the way we are.

I believe that everyone has a natural tendency toward personal growth and has the possibility to fulfill their potential. Sometimes this can become blocked by circumstances, which seem to be beyond our control. By exploring these restrictions, taking responsibility for our decisions and creating more options for ourselves we can resolve issues and move forward in our lives.

I practice Integrative and Humanistic Psychotherapy which draws from many sources in the belief
that no one approach has all the truth. My approach seeks to address the whole person including
mind, emotion, body and spirit and recognizes the self-healing capacities of the client.

The therapeutic relationship is seen as the vehicle for experience, growth and change and the therapist works toward a meeting of equals in this relationship.
